'Crush Me, Squeeze Me, Make Me Wine'

A Tour of the Woof'n Rose Vineyards

The first vineyard was planted in 1995 with a very few Zinfandel and Petite Sirah 'cuttings' from Temecula. The next year approximately half an acre of Merlot was added along with some Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard now produces primarily Cabernet Franc and Grenache Noir on grafted rootstock. The Merlot is also still producing but the Zinfandel and Petite Sirah are almost gone, and the Cabernet Sauvignon is very limited, however these varietals may be re-planted in a future expansion. Current total vine count varies around 1500 (depending on pests) and occupies slightly over 2 acres of the total 5 acre property.

The vineyard is home to many creatures, most of which are a benefit to viticulture and the environment - fox, bobcats, coyotes, a very occasional mountain lion, owls, hawks, road runners, rabbits, squirrels, lizards, even gopher snakes - for the most part good employees, but the rattlesnakes and gophers push the envelope.
